CORONA VIRUS…

Support your immune system!

How can you preventively support your immune system and make your body more resilient against the Corona virus.

At this moment, fear reigns. Fear causes stress. Because Stress weakens our immune system. Our body barriers open up, this is making us more vulnerable to viruses and bacteria. Stress demands action, especially with acute stress and danger. We run, we freeze or we fight. This temporarily actions solves the cause of the stress and we can move on. When we are anxious and this fear persists, the stress starts to weaken our body. As a result we become more susceptible to disease. So let’s take action and take our health into our own hands as much as possible. This is what we can do preventively to strengthen our immune system against this virus…

Prevention:

A. Strengthen our barrier system by…
? Consuming less anti-nutrients such as gluten and casein (cheese, bread, pasta, etc.).
? Eating a varied diet and get your fibre from fruit and vegetables in all colours of the rainbow.
? Avoid refined sugars.
? Increasing oily fish and shellfish intake for Omega 3 and Zinc.
? Reducing your stress levels. Stress opens up your body’s barriers. Laugh and relax as much as possible

B.  Make sure that your Cortisol remains or becomes sensitive. Cortisol protects the body against stress and calms the immune system when the stress reaction must be over.
? Stress-reducing activities (laughing, reading, meditating, breathing exercises)
? A short stress stimulus helps to be sensitive to cortisol. So take a Cold Shower regularly.
Minimum 2 min.  And practice Breathing exersises such as The Wim Hof Method
? If you smoke this is the time to quit. ?

Unfortunately, we cannot get enough Vitamins and Minerals from our diet when we want to give our immune system extra support against a virus. Therefore we pay attention to the next supplementation:

Vitamin C

Vitamin C is currently being used in China to treat the Corona virus in high doses intravenously. And with positive results. Because it particularly helps with respiratory diseases and pneumonia.

Vitamin C is used by the immune system for:
? Making different kind of white blood cells
? Stimulating the production of white blood cells
? Recognition and elimination of pathogens

Adults 2000-3000 mg per day vitamin C (Ascorbic acid )
Children 8 to 12 years 1000 mg per day
Children under 8 years 500mg per day

*Only for the time being whit the danger of the virus. Than you go back to a normal intake of 500mg a day if necessary.

Biorhythm

Your immune system performs repairs and checks your systems especially at night. So a good night’s rest is very important in these stressful times. Therefore try to go to sleep early and get a good night’s rest. You can support this by avoiding blue light from TV, computer and phone screens 2 hours before you go to sleep. If you have trouble sleeping in you can take Melatonin 2-hours before you go to bed.

Omega 3

A virus causes a Th1 reaction and a cellular immune reaction. With the help of T lymphocytes a strong inflammation is created. So that the cells infiltrated with the virus are killed. But an inflammatory reaction has to be turned off again. It has to be rebalanced. This is what the Th regulation system does.
To turn off an inflammation, you need Omega 3 fatty acids.

Dosage:  3x per day 1000 mg Omega 3

Curcumin

Curcumin in curcuma has a lot of health benefits, one off them is it regulates the Th1 and Th2 respons  throughout the body. So use plenty of turmeric in your food along with black pepper.

* Th or T Helper cells are arguably the most important cells in adaptive immunity, as they are required for almost all adaptive immune responses. They not only help activate B cells to secrete antibodies and macrophages to destroy ingested microbes, but they also help activate cytotoxic T cells to kill infected target cells. Without helper T cells we cannot defend ourselves even against many microbes that are normally harmless.

Regulates the Th regulation system and drains free radicals out off the body.
Nutrition: Walnuts, Asparagus, Avocado, Broccoli, Spinach, Turmeric, Carrots and Garlic.

Increase your protein intake
Selenium is found in Brazil nuts, walnuts and sardines
Vitamin E Almonds, Spinach, Avocado and Sweet Potatoes
Sulphur -> Leeks, Garlic, Onions, Brussels sprouts, Cauliflower and Broccoli

Refill your Vitamin C

Unfortunately, many people have a chronic lack of Vitamin C due to lifestyle. It is important to supplement this first. Then take a daily dose to give extra support to the immune system for as long as necessary. Speaking in weeks not months!

Complementing Vitamin C (Ascorbate)

Take 1000 mg of vitamin C every hour until you suffer from thin stools. Then your body will have absorbed the maximum. Sometimes this can take longer than a day or even a few days before you stool is getting soft. Just take your night’s rest and continue the next day with another 1000mg per hour. When your stool become soft, take the 2-3 gram dose to support the immune system temporarily.

This is what I do at the moment to support my immune system being a diabetic type 1 and boost my immune system as good as possible.
